Join us for a celebration of our local high street at Word on The Street.
As part of Lewisham's year as London Borough of Culture, we're celebrating the cultural diversity of our local high street, by weaving together the stories of the people who keep our high street moving! Poets Esme Allman ad Ade Oyejobi have been out and about gathering stories, anecdotes and memories from local business owners, adapting them into an Epic Poem which will be the highlight of the evening's entertainment.
We'll also be hosting an open mic slot for any Poets or Spoken Word Artists who want to share their work in a friendly neighbourly environment; poems with a link to Sydenham greatly encouraged! If you want to sign up for a 5 minute slot, contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, our hosts at The Canvas Sydenham will be serving up a range of delicious food and drink to enjoy while you listen in.
We hope this will be a celebration of how amazing our local community is, and a great chance to see a unique piece of spoken word, made specially for our area!
Tickets are Pay-what-you-can, but booking is strongly advised as there is a limited capacity. Seating is limited, and on a first-come, first-serve basis, with additional standing room.
