Continuing celebrations marking 50 years of Pride in the UK.

Our screening for July is Celine Sciamma's Portrait of a Lady on Fire, winner of Best Screen Play and Queer Palm and nominee for the Palm d'Or at Cannes Film Festival 2019. This exquisitely shot masterpiece has won a whopping 59 awards in total, portraying an unexpected 18th Century romance between a painter and her model.

Marianne (Noémie Merlant) is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloise (Adele Haenal), a young woman who has just left the convent. Héloise is a reluctant bride to be and Marianne must paint her without her knowing. She observes her by day, to paint her secretly at night.
